Introduction to Rock Climbing
How adventurous are you? Rock Climbing has really exploded in popularity in recent years with thousands of people enjoying this fantastic extreme sport which gets you out in the great outdoors. Outdoor Rock Climbing is a very rewarding activity it is both physically and technically challenging and is also great fun. Our one day Introduction to Rock Climbing is a fantastic way in to the sport, under the watchful eye of your fully qualified instructor you will learn the basic principles of rock climbing such as planning a route, hand holds, foot holds and rope work. The course will be tailored to abilities to ensure you are challenged and have fun. Before long you will be scaling heights you never thought possible!

Your day will start at the centre where you will meet with your instructor. You will have a safety briefing and be issued with your equipment such as safety harness and helmet. You will then go, usually by mini bus, to the climbing location for the day - the instructor will select the location based on conditions and abilities - there may be an outdoor climbing wall available if the instructor thinks that it is best to start the session there. During the course of the day you will learn and practice climbing techniques such as route planning, foot & hand holds, bottom roping, belaying other climbers and abseiling. You will be encouraged to push yourself as much as you want and will be surprised at the progress you make. The day will be supervised by qualified instructors at all times to ensure safety. |
