Two hours drive from Dahab, you find the High Mountains of St Catherine. The village itself is very nice, nestled against the mountains in a beautiful Protected Area. Most famous for its religious significance (this is where God gave Moses the 10 Commandments), there is a whole new kind of pilgrimage taking place these days - the climbers!
Your guide in St Katherine is Dave Lucas. After 6 years as a frequent visitor to the Sinai for extended stays & expeditions, Dave is now living in St Katherine & working with the Bedouin here. This is fabulous for the climbing, as he’s very experienced:
* Summer ML (Mountain Leader)
* SPSA Climbing Instructor
* Emergency Medic Technician
* More than 50 months expedition experience, including 1st ascents in 19 countries and climbed another 20 countries
* So far, more than 100 new routes in St Katherine.
Every Climbing Safari is tailored to the experience & preferences of the climbers, but here's a nice way to spend 4 or 5 days climbing St Katherine. Most people like to trek up Jebel Mousa (Mt Moses or Mt Sinai) as well, so we've included this in the plan. Up to you though - everything is flexible around here!
