Rock and Rambles

With Rock and Rambles you will have the most exciting mountaineering, rock climbing or trekking experience you can handle.

Trips are based out of Queenstown and include guided half day, full day and multi day rock climbing courses. For the more adventurous amongst you, why not try full day or multi day alpine climbing off the beaten track or for the less vertically inclined take a trek and get to the heart of New Zealand and see the true beauty the country has to offer.

Climbing Trips: Climbing can be done by people of all ages and abilities, In Queenstown we are fortunate enough to have access to hundreds of outdoor routes suitable from beginner to advanced and half day or full day trips. We also have access to a great indoor climbing wall if you would like to give it a go on a damp day. Trips will be run to suit your skill level and requirements. All equipment will be provided, you just need to turn up with a packed lunch and a positive attitude.

Alpine Guiding Trips: Queenstown is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges. The most iconic being the famous Remarkables. The highest point is Single Cone and an easy achieved summit by people with moderate fitness. For the more adventurous try the Grand Traverse that includes the steeper summits of Double Cone. If you have higher aspirations, we run three day alpine climbing courses that include alpine camping, navigation, rescue techniques and multi pitch climbing. Being situated away from the main divide means the weather is often better so you spend more time climbing and less time waiting in huts.

Trekking Trips: Queenstown was once a vibrant gold mining and high country farming town. It is surrounded by history. Join our guides on one or two day trekking trips that follow old mustering and mining routes on the Remarkables and Coronet Peak ranges. One day options include the Browns Basin circuit at the head of the Wye valley or for the more adventurous try the Queens Drive that circumnavigates Double and Single Cone. On the other side of the valley take in the historic trek form Coronet Peak to Brow peak and down to Arrowtown.

If you want to get away from it all for more than one day check out the Mountains to Lake journey that overnights in the Wye Valley. Pass over alpine shrub and rock gardens and follow babbling brooks in this isolated but accessible valley that runs from near top of the Remarkbles down to the trench of The Sleeping Giant (Lake Wakatipu)
