The village is situated on lake Hallstatersee, so once the excitment is over there's the perfect opportunity to relax by the lake and recharge your batteries before returning to the trails.
The Obertrauner Hof offers comfortably furnished accommodation, in 12 spacious en-suite bedrooms many of which have balconies opening out to breath-taking panoramic views of the Dachstein Massif.
Communal lounge areas and a peaceful garden provide the perfect opportunity to compare notes with fellow travellers or offer a quiet retreat after an exciting day outdoors.
The Obertrauner Hof also comes complete with a generously sized bar/restaurant: the Glankowirt provides local cuisine and seasonal specialties and the perfect place to enjoy your evening. |

During the Summer the well marked walking and biking trails make this an ideal location for those of you who enjoy immersing themselves in the mountains either on foot or bike. There are trails to suit all levels, from gentle & level to allow you to relax and enjoy your surroundings, or to the more challenging 1,000m rises and glacier trek. IT'S ALL HERE!
Skiing/Snowbaording;
The Dachstein-West ski region offers 2 diverse ski areas; at Gosau 140kms of intermediate piste, served by a good standard of modern lifts and the Krippenstein Freeride Arena, not only with the longest run in Austria at 11km, but also gives you the opportunity to try off-piste (guides available).
The area is away from the large tour operators and so offers relatively crowd free skiing.
For those who also like a little culture, a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage village of Hallstatt is a must, travel by ferry across the lake to this beautiful village. Or why not pamper yourself at the famous spa in Bad Ischl. Once the summer residence of the Hatsberg Royal Family, their villa is now open to the public.
Or why not just take the cable-car to the top of the Krippenstein and try a hot chocolate ‘mit rum’ and take-in the breathtaking scenery provided by the Dachstein Glacier.
